This is probably why turtles live so long.
Slow and steady wins the race.
This is Peanut, an 11-month-old box turtle. Even though he is young, he is already learning that he doesn't need to rush things. Especially meals.
We can all learn about a little about patience and enjoying the little things from turtles. Every bite is important to Peanut; every nibble is slowly savored. We should also learn to appreciate our food a little more.
Next time you're eating, remember Peanut. Stop after every bite and really think about what you are tasting; muse on the flavors, the texture. It might take you a while to finish but maybe you'll live a little longer.
