In honor of Mother's Day, we thought it was the perfect time to share a much-deserved tribute to the horse show moms.
Dear Horse Show Moms,
Thank you. Thank you for the long hours you've spent at the barn with us while we scrubbed, clipped, and prepared our ponies and horses for the next day's show.
And thank you for getting up to drive us to the barn at 4 a.m., and for bringing us hot chocolate when we were freezing waiting for our early morning warm-up, and for lugging us home each night when we were so tired we could hardly stand up.
You overcame your fear of horses and even helped to hold our horses between classes and while we tacked up. You wiped noses (both ours and our horses'), polished boots, and cheered us on from the side of the ring.
Your support meant everything. Knowing that you were there watching helped us ride better. We knew there would be video and photos waiting for us after the classes so that we could review our rides. And when we placed, you cheered louder than anyone else.
Thank you for being there.
Horse show moms, you were troopers. You braved wind and rain, frosty-cold mornings and unbearably hot afternoons. You came armed with water bottles and sunscreen and bug spray, and you did so with a smile on your face.
You shared in our elation and comforted us on days when things just didn't go well. And through it all, you loved us.
Thank you for everything that you did. You helped us realize our dreams and learn hard lessons, and you let us be a part of this wonderful world of horses. And we wouldn't trade it for anything.
Happy Mother's Day to all of our horse show moms.
