No matter how many store-bought toys you give your pet, there's one item in the household that we'll guarantee they're fascinated with: Toilet paper.
Pets love to play, and they can be adorable and entertaining when they play inside the house. As long as they're playing with the right toys, that is. Because sometimes pets get into things that they shouldn't, and then it's not quite as adorable. Especially when they discover the toilet paper. And particularly when they destroy the last roll in the house.
There's something about toilet paper and pets. It's like there's this magnetic attraction. You wouldn't think that a plain white roll which hangs on the wall could be so captivating, and yet countless kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs discover toilet paper every day.
And then they're hooked, and you'll be waking up to confetti or snow-like scenes in your bathroom. Just take a look at some of the trouble that the pets in this video get into.
Rest assured, if you're battling your pet for the TP, you're not the only one. It's a common issue, and unfortunately there aren't too many easy ways to fix it. You could make an effort to keep the bathroom doors closed, provided you don't also keep your cat's litter box in the bathroom.
You may be able to train your dog to recognize that the toilet paper is not a toy, but this requires repeatedly catching him in the act and redirecting his energy onto a more suitable toy.
Sometimes the best way to protect your TP is to keep it out of your pet's reach entirely. Some pet owners resort to keeping a roll inside a decorative coffee can, rather than hanging the paper on a holder. Good luck!
