Animal Aid Unlimited, India received a call on its helpline about an injured street dog in dire need of help.
When Animal Aid rescue team workers located the dog, it was clear his injury was a ticking time bomb. The back of the dog's head was gaping open, badly infected, and infested with maggots.
Unfortunately, the dog was painfully shy and would not let anyone get close enough to apprehend him. Not even tasty treats were enough to coax him into range.
Despite various efforts, the dog remained on the loose, so in order to prevent him from bolting, rescue workers trapped him in a net.
They immediately transported him to Animal Aid's shelter, where he began receiving emergency medical treatment for his wound.
