Dog Will Scratch Owner's Back as Long as He Returns the Favor Someday

This dog is determined to give his owner the best back scratch he's ever had.

Dogs help humans in many ways. They perform search and rescue during disasters, provide emotional support every day, and even assist as service animals. There are countless benefits to having a dog in your home, from a built-in security system to the simple pleasure of having a companion around. But this dog's unique trick actually helps his owner in a very different way.

This dog's owner took advantage of the dog's natural tendency to want to dig. A little bit of training, and that dog learned to apply his digging to, well, his owner's back. Take a look.

That's quite the back scratch, isn't it? The determined dog can get at all of the spots that his owner can't easily reach, and we'll bet that his digging is more effective than human fingernails. If you try to teach your dog this trick, make sure that you've recently trimmed your dog's nails and that you're wearing a thick shirt. Dogs can scratch you surprisingly deep.

There are many ways that you can train your dog to help you out. Think about training your dog to bring in the newspaper, help you dig in the garden, and even carry in groceries from the car.

Of course, it's only fair that the owner gives his dog a nice belly rub or back scratching in return. After all, what is the saying? I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine?
