Expectant parents George and Amal Clooney are setting the standard for animal care and compassion.

Camp Cocker Rescue in California is a refuge for abandoned, abused, and neglected Cocker Spaniels. They frequently take in dogs in need of care, and their most recent rescue filled their kennels to capacity.

The animal shelter saved nine dogs used for an illegal breeding operation in the Mojave Desert. The pups, who had never seen a vet before, suffered from a long list of ailments including mammary tumors, dental disease, calcified ears, and ingrown toenails. The medical and boarding cost needed to keep the dogs was more than the volunteer-based rescue could handle, and they needed donations more than ever before.

After reaching out to donors to help cover the costs, Camp Cocker Rescue made a special Facebook announcement on Tuesday.

"Believe it or not, the average donation that comes in to Camp Cocker Rescue is in the $5 to $25 range. That's why you see us constantly asking for donations because we know that the only way we can continue our rescue efforts is by a LOT of people, just like you, donating small amounts."

After giving the social media version of a drum roll, they then went on to share their incredible news.

"Well, you can imagine how blown away we were when we heard that a $10,000 donation was pledged to our doggies...We want to thank George and Amal Clooney for their unbelievable donation and now it's time to turn to all of YOU to see if you can match it!!!!"

The Clooney's first came in contact with Camp Cocker Rescue in 2010. Clooney fell in love with a pup named Einstein and adopted him soon after. Then in 2013, he went back to bring home his second rescue dog, Louie.

The generous donation made by the Clooneys came in time to give the nine new rescues the medical attention they needed, and it also inspired others. The matching campaign organized by Camp Cocker is set to go on during the entire month of May, and donors are already showing their support.
