The Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society holds an adoption expo every year.
This year marked the 10th annual Bluebonnet Horse Expo and it took place last Saturday October 22. It was a wonderful day full of horse adoptions, entertaining performances, valuable training sessions, and a silent auction.
The Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society is a foster-care network for rescued and seized horses throughout Texas. Every year they hold an adoption expo in Austin, Texas for the foster horses to find forever homes.
Each foster "parent" brings the horses they have been taking care of over the years to the event so potential adopters can meet the horses, their caregivers, and talk to veterinarians, that are on-site, about taking care of their new horses.
The foster horses also go through training over the year to perform at the Expo. These performances prove how far a horse rescue can come from the time they are seized from their often hopeless situations to the time of the Expo each year.
The Expo also features educational presentations about horse training, used tack and gear for new horse owners to buy, and a silent auction with product ranging from feed to a horse trailer.
The Bluebonnet Horse Expo is an important event that brings the horse community in Austin, Texas together and is a chance for Bluebonnet Equine Society horse rescues to find families.
At this year's event, 34 horses were adopted with six more inquiries from the Expo pending.
