This amazing video features special needs dogs who prove that they're really not that different after all.
There are some major misconceptions about special needs dogs, and this can make it particularly difficult for them to find homes. Many shelters have handicapped dogs, but adopters often have little interest in these dogs, preferring to go for a dog which fits their definition of "normal."
This video, made by Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue, breaks down those misconceptions and adoption barriers. The song, "Not So Different," is super catchy and upbeat, and drives home the fact that, at heart, all dogs - and all humans - are similar. Appearances truly don't matter.
Take a look at this heartfelt music video.
But the true magic of this video lies in its special needs dog stars. According to the Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue's Facebook page:
"The majority of these dogs have extreme medical conditions or are very special needs. In this cast of characters you will see a dog with only two legs, a dog with four legs that can only use two legs who also got dealt a diseased heart, a dog with less than 2% of their cerebellum (which means the brain can't tell the muscles what to do very well), deaf dogs, blind dogs, dogs in hospice care with cancer, a dog with mega colon and mega bladder that is incontinent, dogs with emotional issues, a dog with one ear, dogs with chronic disease and so on and so forth. But you won't notice any of that, because they all live happily ever after because they were given a chance not to just live and exist....but to be WHOLE dogs, even with all that they are missing."
Love it? Please share it to help get the word out that special needs dogs aren't all that different than your "typical" dogs. After all, they deserve loving homes, too.
