There are more than 2,900 species of snakes in the world. They live almost everywhere, in deserts, forests, oceans, streams, and lakes. Snakes live on the ground, in trees, and in water. Yes. They also live in water and I must admit I'm not a big fan! All summer long I have to worry about my dog Walter eating and torturing snakes. These poor reptiles should know we live with a doxie and it's up to them if they want to sun themselves on our deck.
With that in mind, I've named most of the snakes that visit us on a hot afternoon. How have I come up with these names? By super cute categories!
Asmodeus - after the biblical demon
Sir Hiss - from 'Robin Hood'
Mara - from the BBC's 'Doctor Who'
Crawly - from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's 'Good Omens'
Hista - from 'The Legend of Tarzan'
Nag & Nagaina
Anthony J. Crowley
Forget the list above, come up with your name based on the personality of your snake!
"If you're a snake owner, you know that every type of snake has its own personality and every individual snake is unique.
Choose a name that relates to the type of snake you own. For example, if you own a corn snake consider "Kernel Mustard" or "Cornucopia." For a king snake, how about George the Third, or Rex? Milk snakes are especially easy to name, with options like Magnesia, Miss Moo, and Moodonna."
Which of these snake names is perfect for your pet snake?
Whether you own a ball python, boa constrictor, California kingsnake, green tree python, Burmese python, or carpet python all these pet snake names are the perfect name for your slithering friend. Some of these are funny names and some are taken from literature!
