Rescue Dogs Help Find Missing People in California's Mudslides

At least 20 people have died in the recent mudslide in Montecito, California.

The storm rolled into the community, which is located about 90 miles north of Los Angeles, early on Tuesday, Jan. 9 and brought heavy winds and more than an inch of rainfall an hour.

According to Business Insider, "the damage from torrential rains was made worse by recent wildfires in the area that charred the earth and scrubbed the land of vegetation, making the ground slicker and the slides more dramatic."

The Santa Barbra County Fire Department was quick to respond and has been doing all they can to help those in need.

Take a look at some photos of the devastation below:

To help rescue workers search for missing people, they have been using search and rescue dogs to wade through the mud and rocks and debris.

At least four people are still said to be missing.
