A five-year-old boy named Shon is the superhero that feral cats in Philly need.

Dressed as Batman, Superman, or Spiderman, Shon never misses an opportunity to do good in his community. The young superhero isn't swinging from buildings or lifting buses over his head, but he is helping the local cat population survive and thrive.

Since Shon was three years old, his aunt, Kris Papiernik, and her fiance, Kia Griffin, knew Shon had a special way with cats. Papiernik and Griffin have worked with stray and feral cats for over a decade, and they started Kolony Kats four years ago to better practice TNR (trap-neuter-release) in their area.

Shon's special talent first came in handy when Kolony Kats was trying to help a particularly skittish cat named Bug. Bug was found living with his sister, Lady, behind a row of houses. Lady was easily trapped, spayed, and released back to her home, but Bug wanted nothing to do with humans. He was the only feral cat in the area that wasn't spayed or neutered, but then he met Shon.

When Shon started visiting the colony where Bug lived, the elusive feline took an instant liking to the youngster. Shon coaxed Bug toward the trap, and his aunt was finally able to take the cat to the vet where he was neutered and received his shots.

Since Bug, Shon has helped countless cats, and to make what he does even more adorable, he always wears a superhero costume. ABC News said his family calls him "Catman." Catman knows how to give the colonies food and water without being instructed, and his favorite part of the job is showing the cats love.

Shon's family hopes his actions and compassion will inspire other children to help animals. Metro reported this week that Shon's family is planning to write a book to teach kids how to safely and responsibly care for the feral cats in their neighborhoods.

What do you think of Shon's efforts? Let us know in the comments.
