7 Reasons Pets Are The Only Valentine We Need

Even if you have a human significant other, we all know who your real valentine is.

When it comes to affection, few people get it as right as pets do. It doesn't seem proper to celebrate a holiday about love without celebrating the pets who provide so much of the love in our lives.

Here are seven reasons our pets are our real Valentine's Day dates this year, and honestly, every year.

1. They (almost) never talk back or argue.

Let's face it, even the best significant others argue sometimes, but not so with pets. They might make a disgruntled face or momentarily pretend they can't hear you, but that is the furthest your argument will escalate.

2. They don't eat your food ... most of the time.

Significant others are always stealing your food, whether from the fridge or right off your plate. Pets have their own food, and rarely steal yours. Even if it does happen, they are way more apologetic than any human would be.

3. They don't care what they're doing as long as they're with you.

Humans can be picky. "I don't want to see that movie." "I'm too tired to go on a walk." Pets, however, are always happy to adventure with you, and just as happy to lounge around with you watching Netflix ... no matter what show you pick.

4. They give awesome cuddles.

People are okay at cuddling, but pets are even better. They know instantly when you're sad and need to snuggle, and they'll stay there with you all day if you let them.

5. They think you are the best. At everything. Always.

Even people who love you have opinions on things you do and say, but to a pet you are the best, in every way possible. Your voice is the best, your haircut is the best, you're the best at running, the best at cooking, give the best chin scratches, and the best at throwing the ball.

It's a nice change of pace.

6. They are cuter than any human significant other.

Even the most attractive human can't compete with the big brown eyes of a puppy. If you want a cute valentine, your pet is by far the better option.

7. They love you unconditionally.

Humans love imperfectly, but pets love unconditionally. They love you in spite of all the mistakes you've made, and will do anything for you without a moment's hesitation — That's true love!

Love is great in all its forms, but the love between a person and their pet is one of the greatest kinds. Show your pet some Valentine's Day love!
