This Owl Gets into the Halloween Spirit with a Little 'Monster Mash'

Posted by Paige Cerulli

When it comes to getting into the Halloween spirit, there's no better way to start feeling spooky than with a little music.

Evidently, Oakley the owl agrees. He's jamming out to the song "Monster Mash" in the company of his singing owl puppet, and it's possibly the cutest thing we've ever seen.

Oakley has some killer dance moves, and at moments, he mimics the puppet's movements perfectly. It's quite a sight.

Oakley is a juvenile Great Horned Owl who was brought to the Eagle Valley Raptor Center in Cheney, Kansas after a tornado hit a few years back.

At the time, there weren't any other owls Oakley's age, so Oakley's caretaker got creative and put a singing owl puppet in his cage with him.

Oakley took an instant liking to the singing puppet and started to dance. A few days after this video was taken, a few young owls came into the center. Although they didn't sing the "Monster Mash," Oakley had some new friends.

Oakley was released a few months later.

Eagle Valley Raptor Center cares for injured and orphaned birds and returns them to the wild whenever possible. Those birds that cannot be returned to the wild live in captivity and go on to become educational ambassadors who help teach people about wildlife.
