When an orphaned foal needed someone to cuddle, a stuffed animal filled the need. Now, years later, the two have been reunited.
Do you remember the adorable images that circulated social media back in 2013? A bay foal cuddled with a stuffed animal nearly twice his size.
That foal was Breeze, an orphan who came into the Mare and Foal Sanctuary when he was just a few hours old. He needed round-the-clock care, and Buttons the Bear served as a companion to the young horse.
Eventually, Breeze grew large enough to leave the sanctuary and Buttons the Bear behind. Currently, Breeze lives with a herd while he continues to grow up, and he is thriving. When he's old enough, Breeze will be available to a good home.
But then, Breeze and his stuffed animal were reunited for a fun photo opportunity. Breeze is a lot larger now than he was as a foal, but it looks like he remembers his cuddly friend quite well.
Breeze owes his survival to the hard work of the staff at the Mare and Foal Sanctuary. The sanctuary, located in Devon, England, works to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome horses.
Want to see more of Breeze? He was featured in the sanctuary's 2017 calendar.
