June is all about social networking to get pets adopted.
The entire month of June is dedicated to helping homeless animals find forever homes. With social media becoming the networking norm, it's the best way to promote adoptions, events, and awareness.
This month, you're encouraged to peruse animal shelter websites and share an animal's adoption information on your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube and whatever other social media accounts you might have.
It really is that easy.
Just think about how viral the Internet goes with pet stories out there, and how those Instapuppers have more followers than you. As "liking" and "sharing" have become parts of everyday lives, one click or re-post by you could mean a lifetime of happiness for an animal in need.
In addition to promoting adoption, Social Petworking Month can be a time to remind people about the importance of fighting against Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). Hashtags like #opttoadopt and #adoptdontshop also encourage people to turn to shelters instead of breeders when looking for a forever friend.
You can also work this month to educate on the misinformation surrounding pet adoption, such as not being able to find purebreds or exotic pets or only finding pets with behavioral problems.
More and more clicks of that computer mouse could mean hundreds if not thousands of people see your post.
