Celebrities have the chance to set great examples, and that's just what Neil Patrick Harris and his family did by adopting a new rescue dog.
Neil Patrick Harris and his family have a new addition - an absolutely adorable rescue dog. Neil Patrick Harris, his husband, David Burtka, and their children Harper and Gideon have adopted Gidget, a friendly, happy rescue dog. Gidget will join the family's other two dogs, Fred and Watson.
The family worked with North Shore Animal League America to find the perfect dog. Gidget actually came from Thailand; she was rescued off the streets there and was brought to the United States by Project Street Dog Thailand.

David announced the family's new addition via an Instagram post:
From the looks of it, Gidget has settled into her new home well. We bet she'll have a great time with her new family.
Many celebrities choose to adopt their pets, sending a public message about the importance of adopting pets from shelters. In this case, Neil Patrick Harris and his family did just what you should do when adopting a pet. They described their family situation and the type of pet they were looking for, made sure that they found a great fit for their family, and found a new family member.
If you can't adopt a pet, there are still plenty of ways you can help out pets in need. Volunteer for a shelter or offer to foster pets in need of extra care. Spread the word about adoption to your friends and family, and encourage them to make their next pet a shelter pet.
We wish Gidget all the best with her new family!
