Deputy Brandon Dennington with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office in California is used to having furry passengers in his K9 patrol car, but this one came as a surprise.

His regular non-human passengers have four paws, wagging tails, and tend to slobber on the seats. But this little guy was a bit smaller...

Deputy Dennington was driving down the road on the way to a Golden State Warriors game when a small stowaway appeared on his windshield. The attempted vehicle hijacker was a mouse that according to the sheriff office's Facebook page was most likely a "San Antonio Spurs fan trying to intimidate us."

Deputy Dennington jumped into action and used textbook de-escalation techniques to get the situation under control. The crazed fan eventually yielded and gave up the attempt to take over the car. No damage was done to the vehicle, and Dennington was lucky to get to the game safely and on time.

We are not sure if this was an attempted car jacking but this little mouse popped up on the windshield of Deputy Brandon...

The last time Dennington saw the suspect, the mouse was scurrying away from the scene of the crime. He was on foot headed toward a hiding spot and was too quick to be taken into custody. Dennington was, however, able to get a picture of the assailant to be used on the wanted posters. And he made it to the Warriors game, which they won.

He warns everyone in the area to be on the lookout. The suspect is described as being four inches tall, weighing about one ounce, is wearing a grey and white fur coat, and probably on his way back to Texas.

Would you be surprised if a mouse showed up on your windshield while driving? Let us know in the comments.
