Miranda Lambert "Heartbroken" After Dog Jessie Dies 9 Months After Sibling

Country Singer Miranda Lambert shared the death of her dog, Jessi, with fans.

In a social media post on her Instagram, the country star shared the sad news and how heartbroken she and her husband, Brendan Mcloughlin, are over their Golden Retriever crossing the rainbow bridge. Miranda Lambert's 13 1/2-year-old dog Jessi died just 9 months after her sibling Waylon. However, they were "grateful" for the time they had with both of the rescue dogs.

In her heartfelt post, the 36-year-old country music singer also shared how she found her Golden Retriever Jessi and her sibling. Lambert wrote, "Today, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Jessi. I got to love her and be her mom for 13 1/2 years. I found her and her brother Waylon on the side of the road in Oklahoma in Jan 2008 in the middle of a sleet storm. They were 6 weeks old."

Lambert also wrote about how the two pups got their names, saying, "My mom was in the truck with me, and we were listening to the I am Jessi Colter album. That's how they got their names."

Jessi's brother died back in October, and Miranda Lambert shared that Jessi "missed him terribly." She also said they were happy to have that time with her even though her dog's death came so fast after Waylon's.

"Today, they are reunited at the rainbow bridge. We sent her off with the song "Storms Never Last" from the same record she heard playing the first time I put her in my truck. I can't put into words what a dog's love does to a heart. But if you have one, you already know."

She also thanked her Tennessee vets at  Animalia Health & Wellness for their help with the pups and all of her dogs. Lambert also gave a nod to @sarahananney and @julianentwig for "being her other moms." Lambert has many animals on her farm just outside Nashville but is known for her love of dogs.

As Lambert shared the breaking news, many stars and country fans reached out to offer Lambert their condolences for her dog's death.

Muttnation posted, "Rest in Peace, sweet Jessi" Ashley McBride said, "This breaks my heart." While Tenille Townes said, " "I'm so sorry..... sending you so much [love]."

Townes joined the CMA Summer Jam with Lambert and Luke Bryan, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton, which will air on September 2.

Rescues At The Center of Her Heart

Rescues have always been an important part of Lambert's life. In 2009, she and her mom, Bev Lambert, founded MuttNation Foundation to help rescues find the loving homes they deserve. The Texas native has always had a way with animals and adopted her first pup when volunteering at a Texas shelter.

Anyone who has loved a dog knows just how they can quickly become your best friends. While we may not get the extra years we want to have with our pups, we cherish our time with them.
