Man Sentenced to Jail for Beating 'Shadow', 17-Week-Old Puppy to Death

When a puppy accidentally has an accident you train the dog to use the outdoors as their place to potty. You also set the puppy up for success by using a variety of positive techniques to teach them where it's ok to pee. This story is about an individual that decided he would teach this puppy by physically abusing him into submission. Here's another animal cruelty case.

A man beat a puppy to death with a slipper and is going to jail. Here's what happened.

Callum Gerkin of Oxford was watching a 17-week-old Labrador. Gerkin got angry at the puppy for defecating inside and ruining items in the house by tearing them up. According to numerous reports

"He started repeatedly hitting her with a slipper. Later, when she was struggling to breathe as a result of his actions, he refused to get her medical help."

Magistrates sentenced him to serve 23 weeks in prison. He was banned from keeping a dog for ten years.

Is this enough time in prison? He killed a dog... is this sentence too lenient? The breeder thinks so. The breeder told The Oxford Mail that the puppy only knew love prior to this incident.

We also learned the extent of the injuries to this puppy in a story by Unilad,

"The pet suffered a laceration to her liver, a broken jaw and fractured ribs in the vicious attack in Oxford last month."

Watch this.

This sweet 17-week-old black Labrador puppy didn't deserve this man's cruelty and the unnecessary suffering this dog went through is unimaginable. I think Callum Gerken deserves a much longer sentence and he should never own a dog ever again. RIP Shadow and our thoughts go out to the dog's owner who must be devastated from these horrible acts.
