Loading Cattle Is No Problem When You Have Border Collies

Three Border Collies, a herd of cattle, and a trailer. You have to see what these dogs accomplish to believe it.

Loading loose animals, whether it's horses or cattle, onto a trailer can feel a little bit like herding cats. You get a few animals on, then a few escape, then the ones that were on the trailer get off, and you're back at square one. If you're on foot, it can take hours. But loading cattle is no big deal when you have Border Collies on your side.

This video is a great example of how intelligent, athletic, and skilled herding dogs can be. It also proves just why herding dogs are so important on any ranch. These Border Collies team up, go to work, and get the job done. All the while, they pay incredible attention to their owner, doing just what he's asking and taking on some tough cattle along the way.

Take a look at what happens when you give Border Collies a job.

These dogs bond strongly to their owners and are made to work. They need lots of exercise, so keeping them in residential areas, like in an apartment or a house with a limited yard, can be a challenge. But when they have a job to do, you can guarantee that Border Collies will get it done, and quickly.

What amazing dogs!
