Kitten Run Over by a Car Beats All Odds

Posted by Paige Cerulli

When a kitten was run over by a car, his chances at a comfortable life were dramatically altered. But then again, this kitten was determined to beat all odds.

Cheri, a kitten foster for Cats at the Studios in Los Angeles, California, had no idea the journey that began when she brought home Ace. Ace, a six-week-old kitten, had been run over by a car and was brought to a local shelter. A vet at the shelter assessed that amputation of Ace's hind legs would be the quickest solution, but a volunteer pulled Ace from the shelter and brought him to Cats at the Studios to see if a better solution could be found.

Cheri fostered Ace and got three more opinions from different vets about the best treatment options available. Unfortunately, in the process, the vets discovered that along with his damaged hind legs, Ace also had inherited a condition in which he had two holes in his heart, putting undue strain on the important organ. Ace's shot at a decent life was very slim.

For Cheri and Ace, having a bit of faith paid off. Ace's legs have healed and he's a happy cat, full of energy. From caring for the other kittens that Cheri fosters to exploring the house, Ace seems quite content with his new life.

There's no changing Ace's heart condition, but for now, he knows he's loved and he's living life to the fullest. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of kitten fosters like Cheri, Ace and thousands of other kittens receive the specialized care and attention that they need each year.
