A new puppy in the house will always bring about change, and this jealous Great Dane isn't quite sure how he feels about it.
Introducing a new member of the family is exciting, but it's also an adjustment. Dogs are a lot like children, and pet owners shouldn't be surprised when their adult dogs throw temper tantrums worthy of a two-year-old child.
That's what happens when a family of Great Danes is introduced to their new sibling. One of the dogs isn't exactly thrilled to be making room for one more.
First impressions are important, and this family introduces their newest puppy to their two older dogs in a formal way. The woman holds the black and white spotted baby in her arms while the giant older dogs take a few sniffs. One of the dogs seems content to sniff and move on, but the black Great Dane lets his confusion show.
The jealous dog lets out huffs of frustration about the idea of sharing both his home and his owner with another dog. The new puppy is content to climb into a perfectly sized dog bed and take a snooze, but the big dog refuses to let the issue go.
Afraid the new puppy will mean less love and attention, the big dog takes the opportunity to assert himself in his owner's heart. He drapes his big front paws over her shoulders and gets nice and cozy to stake a claim on his favorite person. The big dog towers over his owner as he stands on his hind legs, but that doesn't stop him from acting like a jealous child.
The situation turns awkward as the dog's owner struggles to support her big baby's weight, but she knows all he needs is love. She strokes his sides to reassure him that even with a new puppy, no one will ever take his place.
