Move over, horses - this gerbil has some awesome show-jumping skills!
Are you looking for a way to keep your gerbil both fit and entertained? Then consider setting up a jumping course like the one in this video - this gerbil clearly enjoys it.
Gerbils are natural jumpers, and can jump up to a foot in height. That makes them well suited for navigating small obstacles like the ones in this video.
What's great about this video is that the gerbil seems intent on completing every obstacle in the course. He winds his way throughout the room, jumping everything that's set in front of him.
It looks like he got quite a workout and enjoyed his time out of his cage. Of course, the "Hamster Dance" song adds a fun touch.
If you own a gerbil who lives alone, then it's important to provide him with plenty of time out of his cage. Gerbils need to move around and explore in order to stay fit and prevent boredom.
Setting up small toys and playthings for them can make their time out of their cages more entertaining. If you have two gerbils in a cage, then they will naturally play together - just make sure that the cage is large enough to accommodate both of them.
When you have your gerbil out for playtime, always stay in the room to supervise. Move hazards, like electrical wires and sharp objects, out of the way before letting your gerbil roam. Be sure that any holes into heating or ventilation systems are firmly blocked - gerbils can quickly squeeze into tiny spaces.
Are you ready to teach your gerbil to jump obstacles?
