One very special Boxer surrendered to the Humane Society of Utah came with a handwritten note from his child.
It's never easy to give up a pet, but sometimes situations really don't work out. That's the case with Rhino Lightning, a three-year-old Boxer who was surrendered to the Humane Society of Utah. Only Rhino Lightning's surrender was a little bit different - he came with a hand-written note from a heartbroken child.
You see, Rhino Lightning is very energetic, and his family adopted him about six months ago. The family has small children and Rhino Lightning would get so excited that he would knock them down.
So, it was time for Rhino Lightning to find a family that was a better match for his energy and playfulness. But that doesn't make it any easier for this child who was attached to his dog. So they wrote a letter to ensure that Rhino Lightning went to the best possible home.
"Hi, if you are reading this you must own Rhino now. He was my puppy. I really hope he is in a good environment. I really miss him," the note reads.
"His full name is Rhino Lightning, then your last name. Please don't rename him."
The child's words highlight just how much the dog meant to him.
The child also highlights how Rhino loves to run around, cuddle, and tear up tennis balls.
The child shouldn't have to worry too much about Rhino finding a great home. His story's already received national attention, and it's likely that Rhino will find a family with a situation better equipped to handle his energy and playfulness.
Currently Rhino is still available on the Humane Society of Utah's website. If you're looking for a new playful companion for your family, he might be the perfect fit.
