Company Buys Girl a Hamster After Receiving a Letter Meant for Petco

Serenity thought she was writing to Petco, but her letter ended up on the desk of a utility company.

An eight-year-old girl wrote a letter to Petco, hoping they would give her a hamster, which she so desperately wanted. The letter read:

"Dear Petco pets,

I'm Serenity. I'm 8 years old. I live in Washington DC. I'm going to 2nd grade. May I please have a hamester [sic] because I never had a pet. I [love] hamesters [sic] because they eat carrots, and grass. I will take good care of it because I'll let it eat. I will make sure I clean the cage. If I reseive [sic] a hamster, I will do better in school, make more friends, and become responsible."

A teacher helped Serenity look up Petco's address, but they accidentally found the address for Pepco, a utility company based in D.C.

Pepco customer care workers, Cornell Reddon and Clay Anderson, received the letter and decided to help make Serenity's dream come true. Not only did they give Serenity her first hamster, but they also gave her a cage and some supplies to help get her started.

According to Serenity's mother, the young girl has been reading up on hamsters for two years in preparation for her new pet.

Thank you, Pepco, for going above and beyond!
