How many species of birds are there in Ohio?

According to the official OOS Ohio bird checklist, this list of birds of Ohio includes species documented in the U.S. state of Ohio and accepted by the Ohio Bird Records Committee (OBRC). As of July 2018, there were 433 species on the official list. Of them, 192 have been documented as breeding in the state.

Many of these birds are found near Lake Erie the surrounding state parks. Other backyard birds include the Red-bellied Woodpecker, Grosbeak, Bluebird, Starling, Blue Jay, Flycatcher, Grebe, Chickadee, Hairy Woodpecker, Goldfinch, Tern and Mute Swan.
