Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny on the hit comedy "The Big Bang Theory," has issued an apology for a faux pas she committed over the holiday weekend.
Kaley Cuoco, 30, posted a photo of her dogs to Instagram on the Fourth of July. That photo sparked outrage with many people calling Cuoco "unpatriotic" because her dogs were sitting on the American flag, which was placed on the ground.
The caption to the photo read, "Thank you @the_pet_handler for taking care of the squad while im out of town! 4th of July pups!!!!!!!"
Though Cuoco removed the photo from her account, you can see it below:
Traditionally, it is a sign of disrespect to let the American flag touch the ground. All three dogs are wearing flag bandannas, and though this photo seems to be an attempt to show Cuoco's pride for America, it did fall flat with many fans.
Given the backlash, Kaley Cuoco has since posted a new message on Instagram apologizing for the photo. Her new post reads:
I would like to comment on a photo I posted yesterday , that has caused lots of controversy. First off, please know, I have the utmost respect for my country. I am a proud American in every sense of the word. I understand the American flag stands for our freedom and represents American heroes , past and present. Yesterday I made a mistake by posting the picture that was taken of my sweet dogs posing on an American flag. I sincerely apologize to anyone that has been offended by my previous post. This is no way reflects my feelings toward what the American flag represents. Living in the public eye, can be extremely difficult at times. Every mistake and every imperfection is amplified. I am not perfect. I am a proud American, today, tomorrow, always. ?
So what do you think? Did Kaley Cuoco make a mistake by taking and posting this photo? Is she showing disrespect to the flag, or does the layout make sense for a cute picture?
If you'd like to get some great patriotic photos with your dogs, these flag-themed bandannas are a great place to start. You might also photograph your dogs standing or sitting in front of a flag which is hung up or flying. There are all sorts of possibilities. With a bit of creativity, you're sure to get a great shot that others will love without disrespecting the American flag.
