Update: The Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile is now open for reservations.

This pet hotel has amenities that any pet lover would drool over! Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah gets a ton of visitors throughout the year. Some are going to just volunteer, others are there to adopt an animal and some are just visiting.
Now the nearly 30,000 visitors each year have a place to stay! The new Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile opens this summer in August.
We hope that animal sanctuaries like Best Friends rub off a little on other rescues as their best practices like animal sleepovers really help animals adjust to life in a home. A hotel, of course, is a luxury to have nearby a rescue and just listen to these pet-friendly features.
- Built-in cubbies for snuggling
- Washing stations
- Pet walking (by arrangement) and a water play park
- Fabrics and materials used in rooms designed to withstand regular use by animals
You had me at snuggling.
Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile is located five miles south of the Best Friends sanctuary. The new Roadhouse features 40 rooms and 10 suites.
The Los Angeles Times article reports that you may bring animals that you are considering adopting from the animal sanctuary (which go beyond the usual cats and dogs). Overnight stays can help people determine whether they truly bond with a rescued animal, the shelter said.
What about a pet trundle bed? Yes!
Giving the pet trundle bed a test at the workshop. Midge approves!!
Room prices will range from $159 to $299.
On any given day, the sanctuary is home to 1,600 animals with burros, rabbits, and pigs up for adoption alongside cats, dogs, and birds.
This pet-centric hotel should become a model for all hotels that allow dogs. Animal lovers have pet sleepovers with their own animals on vacation and these features would make their lives so much easier!
Make reservations now!
