Want a Mexican walking fish? Make sure you know how to care for one.
Axolotls are amphibians that are most closely related to salamanders. They are unfortunately not found in the wild anymore but you can keep one as a pet.
The coolest thing about these walking fish is that they can regenerate their limbs. Check out how to care for one.
They look like nice little monsters.
Make sure you have enough space in your aquarium as axolotls can grow up to 30 centimeters.
If you have more than one axolotl in your fish bowl, be aware that they may bite each other's legs off but they will grow back! They also may eat your fish if you want other pets in the aquarium.
Make sure you provide coverage for your Mexican salamander so they have a dark place to sleep during the day time (they're nocturnal). Your aquarium should also have the right PH levels and water temperature.
It is best to hand-feed axolotls. They will snap the guppie from your hand but they don't have teeth...and remember that they don't actually want to go for a walk.
Keep them in the water!
