Three newborn goats have won the Internet’s heart this week.

Meet Ruth, Elena, and Sonia, three two-week-old baby goats that made their first public appearance last Wednesday at the Oregon ZooElena and Sonia were named after justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor to join little goat Ruth, named after Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Born January 20 at a local farm, the new arrivals were adopted by the zoo. Ruth is a Nigerian Dwarf and twins Elena and Sonia are floppy-eared Nubian goats. The goats were born into two sets of triplets but Ruth, Elena, and Sonia were either rejected by their mothers or had a mother who was unable to take care of all three, which often happens when multiple kids are born. That’s when the zoo stepped in.

As newborns, the adorable three-some is never left alone, receiving round-the-clock care and frequent bottle feedings from trained zoo staff.

Ruth is the smallest of the three, but according to zoo staff, definitely the leader–and the spunkiest of the little ones.

The trio can be see in their exhibit at the Oregon Zoo Family Farm area and will join the resident chickens, sheep, and adult goats. Soon they will spend time in rural Clackamas County where they will munch on wild vegetation to help with brush control at the zoo’s Jonsson Center for Wildlife Conservation, an open plot of Metro-owned land.
