An abandoned pooch named Gigi was alone on the streets of NYC for far too long, but rescue found her just in time, and her transformation is amazing.
When Gigi, a schnauzer-terrier mix, made her way into the safe hands of a NYC-area rescue, she was found hairless, dehydrated, and seriously emaciated, weighing only 12 pounds.
Knowing time was of the essence, her rescuers at Rescue Dogs Rock NYC got her into the care of a medical professional as quickly as possible.

Gigi spent the week in the care of the rescue’s partnered veterinarian, where she’s slowly getting her weight back up and receiving treatment for two types of mange, anemia, and heartworm.
Those caring for Gigi hope that she’ll be ready to head out the door and into the comfortable home of a foster parent as early as this weekend.
While the before and after pics of Gigi may be tough to look at, the progress made in just a matter of days only goes to show the importance of rescue efforts everywhere.
In addition to the medical care Gigi so desperately needed, the love and kindness that comes with being embraced by a foster family will surely set this pup up for success.
